Carbon County’s “Lively Liberals” - 2025

Who we are?

“Lively Liberals of Carbon County” seeks to find much-needed connections for "like-minded" individuals, looking to build and grow these contacts. We believe health care is a right, diversity is a strength, the economy should work for everyone, and facts and truth matter, that cooperation is better than conflict, unity is better than division, empowerment is better than resentment, and bridges are better than walls. Providing a respectful forum to coordinate activities that support liberal goals in and around Carbon County, our Lively Liberals are a liberally-minded and forward-thinking group, dedicated to improving life and well-being for each other and for our community.

Our 2025 Schedule

In 2025, Lively Liberals are meeting at various locations in Carbon County, typically on the third Wednesday of the month. The schedule is emailed to nearly 300 email recipients and is also published on the private Carbon County Democratic Facebook group called “Carbon Democratic Action Group, CDAG”. Creating a “Blue Wave” 

No single approach will promote the “Blue Wave” in Carbon County and throughout Pennsylvania, but Lively Liberals are taking actions that will help. On April 5, we organized and happily managed nearly 200 protesters in Jim Thorpe, PA, to support the Indivisible Organization protests throughout the U.S. We will continue to organize additional events that provide forums for expression of concern related to the erosion of democracy in our country.

Lively Liberals of Carbon County also:

-Supports the long-standing Democrats for Progress Club and the Palmerton Democratic Club monthly meetings and topics;

-Promotes quality candidates and precinct leaders;

-Rolled out and promotes Democracy Defenders to recognize contributors and donations to the Carbon County Democratic Party;

-Door hangs candidate and party literature prior to fall elections; and 

-Continues to grow both a County-wide email list and website to contact our base uniformly, quickly, and regularly.

A bit of Carbon County Lively Liberals History

In February 2023 Carbon County learned about a group called "Drinking Liberally" that had been founded in NYC in 2003. Its goal was to generate ways to meet, support and register new voters and unite like-minded liberals. 

Carbon County Democratic Committee members were encouraged by this idea and seized the moment! We rolled out our own version called "Lively Liberals of Carbon County" and strived to schedule gatherings for every "quadrant" of our county each month. We launched in May 2023 and enjoyed close to 50 attendees nearly immediately. 

Today we are working together more strongly and confidently with a much larger membership. We invite all liberally-minded residents to join us. Bring your friends and new voters, too!
